Description

Students practice matrices concepts (adding and subtracting matrices, solve matrix equations, multiply matrices, and matrix inverses) at a level appropriate for them, with 3 levels to choose from (easy, medium, and hard).

Each Topic Includes:

  • 4 easy level problems task cards
  • 4 medium level problems task cards
  • 4 hard level problems task cards
  • *bonus* worksheet with 1 problem from each level (perfect as a check-in assessment!)

Matrices Unit Topics Included in this Resource:

  • Adding and Subtracting Matrices
  • Multiplying Matrices
  • Solving Matrix Equations
  • Matrix Inverses

This activity requires students to self-assess their understanding and choose problems to complete based on that assessment. Typically, I ask students to rank their understanding on a stoplight – red means they’re stuck, yellow they are doing okay, and green means they’ve got a complete understanding. The problems correspond to what level the student is at.

One page includes all 3 problem levels: easy, medium, and hard. This page is great as an exit ticket, bell ringer, or formative assessment.

The resource also includes 4 “green light” or hard-level problems, 4 "yellow light" or medium-level problems, and 4 "red light" or easy-level problems. Print two-sided flipped over the long side to create self-checking cards that have the answer printed on the back. These are great for task cards, early finisher problems, or extra practice.
