Description

A hands-on math station with real world story problems that require the skill of measuring length.

Teacher Directions:
Cut 5 different lengths of string to match the lengths in the story problems: 4 cm, 5 cm, 6 cm, 7 cm, and 8 cm.
Label each piece of string with a piece of masking tape and a letter of the alphabet (A-E).


Students will use centimeter/base ten blocks to measure the lengths of the different pieces of string and choose the one that matches with the story problem.

Student Directions:
Read the story problem.
Measure the pieces of string using centimeter cubes.
Find the piece of string that matches the story.
Draw the length of the string on the paper below the matching story and draw the blocks that you used to measure the length.
