Description
Are you looking for a way to get your students excited about measuring? You have to try out our Rat Race Lab!
We designed this lab to involve some of our many classroom pets (mice, rats, tortoise), but this could work with wind up toys, remote controlled cars, students crab walking, or anything you can imagine!
This resource includes an editable Google Doc that includes an introduction that reviews measurement definitions, measurement tools, and units of measurement, Part 1 that has students measuring time, distance, and calculating speed. Part 2 has students practice using triple beam balances to take the mass of the objects that are racing, and Part 4 has students take the volume of irregular and regularly shaped objects.
