Description

This lesson is a great way for students to discover for themselves the formula of the speed of the wave.

In part 1, students draw transverse waves and then use a ruler to measure the wavelength, frequency and calculate the speed.
In part 2, students work through guided and independent practice problems for solving the equations for speed, wavelengths, frequency, and period. Instructions show students how to use the triangle method and how to manipulate the equation using algebra.
