Description

Looking for measuring with a ruler practice that's way more fun than a worksheet and doesn't require the use of actual rulers? These measuring with a ruler to the half inch and quarter inch + line plots task cards can be used for math centers, guided math, independent practice, morning work, or homework.

This download includes:

32 measuring with a ruler task cards

⭐A duplicate set of rulers in black and white to save your ink

⭐A student recording sheet

⭐An answer key

⭐A bonus 6-question printable AND digital assessment

Download the preview to see ALL the task cards up close.

After finding all the ruler measurements, students will split their data into 4 groups and complete 4 separate line plots. The horizontal scales are marked off for them so they simply need to plot their measurement data. Then they will answer 4 questions that go along with each line plot. If your students are not ready for line plots yet, the task cards can function independently without the line plot activity.

These task cards are aligned to the Common Core State Standards 3.MD.4 and 4.MD.4.

These task cards are also available in a QR Code Version and a Digital/Paperless Version

Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
