✍Teach your students to write a quality memoir with this unit bundle❕ ✍This digital and printable, no prep/no plan unit will get students collaborating and discussing the critical elements of a memoir in a fun stations activity. Mentor texts will demonstrate these critical skills throughout the stations and the direct instruction lesson. This is also digital resource. It can be used for distance or e-learning. The unit will contain a Google File Link Page that will provide you with a Google Doc/Slides for each activity. A video tutorial I created will provide you with some tech tools to assist you with delivering the content via distance learning.

This Memoir Unit Bundle Includes: 

✅ Digital documents - Google Slides and Google Docs. Perfect for distance learning. The stations have also been created for distance learning.

✅ Mentor Text Exploration - Get students reading, analyzing, and reflecting on quality memoir mentor texts before creating their own.

  • Two Levels:
    • Lower Level Text - An excerpt from Maya Angelou's memoir with additional reading scaffolds. Stop and respond questions, discussion questions, and quiz will support students with the text.
    • Upper Level Text - "A Cub Pilot" by Mark Twain.

  • Both texts will ask students to 'think like a writer' while they read with guiding questions and graphic organizers to facilitate reflection and discussion opportunities.

✅ Mentor texts & guiding questions (numerous mentor texts provided to teach each critical element of a successful memoir). These can be found within the introduction unit, the lesson itself, and the stations activities.

✅ Complete memoir lesson – 40+ slides.

✅ 6 stations with mentor text examples that incorporate peer lead discussion questions, independent thinking activities, and an Idea planning station to get students started with their own memoir.

This was okay. Slides are way too busy and there are a lot of inconsistencies with punctation. I will use very little of it in the end. Not quite what I had in mind. Would also be better if lessons were numbered. The organization of this resource could be clearer.
