Description

When I discovered this story, I knew it was a keeper for my lesson plan rotation year after year.

The Landlady is the perfect text for teaching and exploring inference, and its slightly creepy tone keeps even my most reluctant readers engaged and eager to participate!

For this activity, you’ll read the story aloud, pausing at key moments outlined on the activity sheet.

During each pause, students discuss and infer about the characters, their motivations, and their actions.

After reading, students will watch a short film adaptation and reflect on their inferences to see how they align with the movie’s interpretation.

What's Included:

1. Student Activity Sheet: 12 inference-based questions with text evidence prompts and a reflection section.

2. Teacher Instruction Sheet: Step-by-step instructions, including links to the story (if needed) and the short film.

This is a must-have resource for any teacher looking to deepen their students' inference skills in a fun and engaging way!
