Description
You are purchasing an editable set of the Google Slides used to make the video - Model & Solve Two Step Equations THREE Ways | 7.EE.B.4.a π. All slides are animated as seen in the video lesson. You may use these slides as a guided lesson, scaffolded class notes, print or share student practice slides as task cards, and/or adapt for whole class instruction.
In this Grade 7 math video, students will learn how to model and solve two-step equations in three different ways. We will begin by creating a double bar diagram to represent a real-world problem, then use the diagram to write a two-step equation, model it as a one-step equation, and find the solution. Next, we will use algebra tiles to model two-step equations by creating zero pairs to isolate the variable tiles and then βdividingβ the variable tiles into equal groups with the integer tiles. Each step is connected visually and algebraically as we move from a two-step equation to a one-step equation and a final solution. Finally, students will learn four simple steps to solve equations in the form px + q = r or px β q = r : Step 1: write the equation, Step 2: undo addition or subtraction, Step 3: undo multiplication or division, and Step 4: check the solution. Throughout the video, students will write and solve equations to represent real-world problems and practice each method with modeled exemplar solutions. This lesson aligns with Common Core Standard 7.EE.B.4.a.
