Description

These Fluency Flips help students learn their multiplication facts 1-12 independently. Students can use the cards to study and master their times tables. This low-prep printable is a great way to encourage multiplication fluency!

What is a Fluency Flip?

A Fluency Flip is a card with all equations 1-12 for a single fact. For example, the first card will have the 1 facts, the next card will have the 2 facts, and so on. The equations are on the left side of the card. On the right side, the answers are hidden below a foldable tab. Students use the cards to quiz themselves and then fold open the tab to reveal the answer.

What is Included?

Inside are multiple versions of the black and white printable Fluency Flips. Here are explanations for each:

  • Whole Set Fluency Flips with Answers: Two pages with facts 1-12 together. The first page features facts 1-6, and the second is 7-12. This is best to use if you want to give all cards to students and let them put their own set together. It is also helpful if you plan to print them all on the same color of paper. These cards have the answers prefilled.
  • Whole Set Fluency Flips No Answers: Same set as above, but without answers. This leaves the space blank for students to write in as extra practice.
  • Individual Fact Fluency Flips with Answers: Twelve pages with facts 1-12 individually. The same Fluency Flip card is printed six times on one page. This is best to use if you want each fact to be printed on a different colored paper. It is also useful if you plan on giving students one Fluency Flip card at a time. This set is used more often when teachers choose to make multiple sets at one time. These cards have the answers prefilled.
  • Individual Fact Fluency Flips with Answers: Same set as above, but without answers. This leaves the space blank for students to write in as extra practice.

*Please note that these are all in black and white. If you choose to have each fact a different color, you will need to print on colored paper.

Who can use this product?

This is PERFECT for third grade when multiplication becomes a major focus in math. It is also great for end of the year 2nd graders to start prepping for 3rd. There are always some 4th and 5th graders still working on mastering their facts as well. This is such a great resource for students to take the initiative to master their facts without the requirement of a grown up to quiz them.

My students like to use this resource to review multiplication facts, but it's a pain to create. I only ended up making a few for my students who were struggling so they could take them home. I didn't want to take hours to create them for the rest of my class.

Hi, Julie! Thanks for the review. I’m so glad your students enjoyed the multiplication flips. So sorry it was a challenge to prepare! A good option in the future may be to reach out to a parent volunteer or ask a few trusted (and good with scissors) kiddos to help out. Have a great remainder of the school year!
