Multi-step problems can be difficult to find, and it’s even harder to find problems that are interesting for kids! An engaging superhero theme makes the problems fun for students. I intentionally included a small number of division problems so that students would not simply multiply because this is a “multiplication packet.” Students will have the opportunity to reason as to whether multiplication or division is appropriate.
This packet includes 24 unique word problems:
12 problems are offered in two formats to choose from: open-response and multiple choice
12 additional problems require multiple steps and addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division of multi-digit numbers for students needing extra challenge
A color by number puzzle for your whole class to enjoy or as fun early finisher work
