Description
PowerPoint Math Lesson: 3.OA.3 - Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and measurement quantities, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
This lesson will promote an understanding of the way our new Common Core Mathematical Processes work. This instructional PowerPoint will encourage students to transfer mathematical skills from the concrete to the abstract, without the emphasis on procedures or "rules" that enable our students from understanding the concepts. It will also encourage students to visualize and construct pictures to help them make sense of problem solving.
Included: 21 PowerPoint Slides
*Modeling Word Problems:
-Partitioning Objects into equal groups using various visual models
*Student Tasks- Student's will be able to construct their own arrays, drawings, equations or number sentences. (12 Problem Solving Tasks)
