Description
Are you teaching your students the different syllable types to help them decode multisyllabic words and want to engage them in different activities? This resource includes three different types of activities that students can do to read words with specific syllable types.
About the Words:
The words chosen are specifically chosen to follow this sequence:
- Closed Syllables
- Open Syllables
- Silent E Syllables
- Vowel Team Syllables
- R-Controlled Syllables
- C + le Syllables
The words review previously taught syllable types as the students progress through learning the types. For example, the open syllable words also contain closed syllables. The R-controlled syllables contain all of the previously taught syllables.

About the Activities:
The three activities included are: tic tac toe, roll and read, and search and find word puzzles.
Tic Tac Toe Reading
Each printable includes three games with 24 different words for students to read (three words are repeated on each page).
There are multiple versions of the directions for this activity. Choose the direction page that works best for your students.
Roll and Read
Each board has 24 words for students to read. Students will need a die and counters/cubes to complete this activity.
There are multiple versions of the directions for this activity. Choose the direction page that works best for your students.
Search and Find
Each puzzle has 12 words for students to find. Words may be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Students can circle words with a pencil or highlight them in the puzzle.
Answer keys are included for easy checking!
