In “My Addition Fact Strategies Book,” students (racers or drivers) will be excited to participate in the “Qualifying Laps” where they will learn about 9 different addition fact strategies. After all the strategies “Qualifying Laps” have been passed, they will earn their “Addition Facts Racing Driver’s License.” Each addition fact strategy is represented by a different pit crew member. Each member has an “I Can” poster to teach the strategy and a nine problem quiz to assess the strategy with the “I Can” statement and pit crew member on the top. The posters can be used in a book for your racers and also to teach the strategy with the class. I teach the strategies in the order presented.

“My Addition Fact Strategies Book” is the first component of my fact strategies racing series. The “ADDITION FACT STRATEGIES RACING TEAM” is created based on the Common Core and uses best practices and proven research from Everyday Math, Singapore Math, Otter Creek Mastering Addition Facts, Greg Tang, and more. It incorporates using different manipulatives that include ten frames, number lines, dominoes, fact families and especially mental math.
