Description

Build number sense for your pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade students with MITTEN MATH. This math center provides an engaging activity for honing subitizing. Students will develop the ability to recognize various number representations from 1 to 20 by sorting the mitten cards. Available in print and digitally on TPT Easel, this product is a great extension activity for any version of THE MITTEN.

CONTENTS

  • 100 mitten cards
    • 20 white mittens with numerals 1-20
    • 40 red, yellow, or orange mittens with representations for 1-10
    • 40 blue, green, or purple mittens with representations for 11-20
  • 1 label for your storage folder or envelope
  • 1 direction placard
  • digital version

HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT

  • Use MITTEN MATH in a math center. As your students advance in number recognition, this activity can return to the math center.
  • These puzzles can be used for small group, guided math practice.
  • Individual students who need additional practice and/or intervention (RTI) can use these sorting cards.
  • Incorporate digital learning by assigning this activity on TPT Easel.
  • Include this resource in your sub folder.

When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
