Negative Numbers:
All of my negative number activities and worksheets bundled together. Includes:
*1. Negative Numbers (Adding and Subtracting) Mystery Grid Puzzles*
Students must use the clues to work out the missing numbers in the grids. Includes three different levels:
Level 1: Simple shifts on the number line, such as 3 - 10;
Level 2: Includes all types of calculation, such as -3 - - 4;
Level 3: A larger, 4 by 4 grid, with a mixture of negative number calculations.
*2. Negative Numbers (Multiplying and Dividing) Mystery Grid Puzzles*
As above, but for multiplying and dividing negatives. The three levels are:
Level 1: Multiplying negative numbers
Level 2: Multiplying and dividing negative numbers
Level 3: A larger, 4 by 4 grid, with a mixture of questions, including multiplying three negatives.
*3. Negative Numbers Code Breaker*
A fun code-breaker activity that gets students to add and subtract negative numbers in order to reveal the secret message!
*4. Negative Number Puzzles*
4 different puzzles where students have to work out the missing numbers in the calculations. Lots of practise for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with negatives.

Negative numbers can be a difficult concept and finding a way to connect the material in different ways is so helpful.

Recognize opposite signs of numbers as indicating locations on opposite sides of 0 on the number line; recognize that the opposite of the opposite of a number is the number itself, e.g., -(-3) = 3, and that 0 is its own opposite.

Understand subtraction of rational numbers as adding the additive inverse, 𝘱 – 𝘲 = 𝘱 + (–𝘲). Show that the distance between two rational numbers on the number line is the absolute value of their difference, and apply this principle in real-world contexts.
