Description

These New Years math multiplication color by number worksheets are a "get to" activity for students to practice fact fluency. Students will find the product of the multiplication sentence and use the chart to color the space.

Why do I ask students to find the product and then find it in a range of numbers?

The simple answer is that I want to promote good mental number sense and arithmetic strategies. I have students solve the multiplication fact sentence and THEN find that product in a range (download preview to view an example). Instead of just solving the same fact for one color over and over. For example; you won't see 7 x 4 and 4 x 7 for one color.

Since my color-by-number worksheets contain more rigor, I provide TWO FREE BONUSES for intervention students.

Determine the unknown whole number in a multiplication or division equation relating three whole numbers. For example, determine the unknown number that makes the equation true in each of the equations 8 × ? = 48, 5 = __ ÷ 3, 6 × 6 = ?.
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
