Description

Help your students build confidence with number order as they explore before, after and the relative position of numbers 0 to 10.

Pack 7 in the Math Activities Pack series focuses on number order and position. These 5 math games and centers give your students practical ways to think about what comes before, what comes after and how numbers sit in a counting sequence.

Use the activities to support your existing math lessons, guided groups, small group rotations or independent math centers. Once your students know the routines, the games also work well for fast finishers and review throughout the year.

This pack is included in a BIG BUNDLE - find it HERE

The number order ideas your students will explore:

Before students can work confidently with larger number sequences, they need lots of practice with smaller numbers and position language. This pack helps them move from everyday before and after ideas into ordering numerals and finding numbers before and after a given number.

Students will practise:

  • Understanding the general concept of before and after
  • Ordering numerals 1 to 6
  • Identifying the number immediately before a given number
  • Identifying the number immediately after a given number
  • Placing numbers before and after a featured number
  • Sequencing up to 3 numbers from different starting points
  • Working with numbers in the range 0 to 10

5 number order and position activities included:

Before & After:

Students locate and identify pictures that happen before or after an event.

Number Zoom:

Students order numerals 1 to 6 in horizontal counting order.

Next & Before:

Students identify the number immediately before or immediately after a featured number within 0 to 10.

Super Numbers:

Students locate and position numbers before and after a given number, using numbers randomly in the range 0 to 10.

Numberpillar:

Students sequence and write 3-number sequences from different starting points in the range 0 to 10.

To make prep and storage easier:

Each small-group activity includes:

  • Detailed instructions
  • Playing cards, boards or templates
  • Recording worksheet or follow-up worksheet
  • Cover page to help you organize and store the activity

How this pack can fit into your week:

  • Start with Before & After when your students need a real-world entry point.
  • Use Number Zoom when you want focused ordering practice with numbers 1 to 6.
  • Add Next & Before when students are ready to identify numbers beside a featured number.
  • Use Super Numbers to strengthen both before and after in the same task.
  • Bring Numberpillar into your centers when students are ready to write short number sequences.
  • Keep familiar games available for review once your students know how to play.
  • Use the worksheets as follow-up tasks after hands-on center work.

These number order centers give you an easy-to-use set of activities for helping your students understand before, after and number position with numbers 0 to 10.

This is one of many math sets that I bought. This is an area my students really struggle in. We have used these materials in whole group and small group. They are very helpful and super cute! Thank you.
