Description

Are you working on skip counting or finding number patterns?    Do you need a no prep Thanksgiving worksheet set to practice and perfect those skills?  These Thanksgiving Skip Counting And Number Patterns Worksheets are your answer!

Kids will work to find the pattern using increasing or decreasing skip counting. Worksheets for counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s are all included.  When kids have perfected those skip counting patterns, they can move on to finding the random patterns on the two remaining worksheets

On every sheet, kids use the patterns to determine our final Thanksgiving grocery list, so the mission is critical!  What would Thanksgiving be without the right number of pies?

Use these as an early finisher activity, a no prep sub activity, or as part of your skip counting lessons.  However you use them, kids will have fun completing the pattern!

Your students will love seeing the funny grocery lists that these patterns create. 25 turkeys? 140 pies? That's quite a list!

And while they fill out the worksheets, they’ll be:

  • Identifying patterns
  • Practicing simple addition and subtraction
  • Practicing increasing and decreasing skip counting
  • Learning about mathematical relationships, a foundational skill!

Materials Needed:

  •  Printable Number Patterns & Skip Counting Worksheets
  •  Writing utensils of your choice

Perfect for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students.

What does this set include?

  • An activity card with step by step instructions for the Thanksgiving grocery list number pattern activity
  • Keys for every worksheet

Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning. Mathematically proficient students notice if calculations are repeated, and look both for general methods and for shortcuts. Upper elementary students might notice when dividing 25 by 11 that they are repeating the same calculations over and over again, and conclude they have a repeating decimal. By paying attention to the calculation of slope as they repeatedly check whether points are on the line through (1, 2) with slope 3, middle school students might abstract the equation (𝑦 – 2)/(𝑥 – 1) = 3. Noticing the regularity in the way terms cancel when expanding (𝑥 – 1)(𝑥 + 1), (𝑥 – 1)(𝑥² + 𝑥 + 1), and (𝑥 – 1)(𝑥³ + 𝑥² + 𝑥 + 1) might lead them to the general formula for the sum of a geometric series. As they work to solve a problem, mathematically proficient students maintain oversight of the process, while attending to the details. They continually evaluate the reasonableness of their intermediate results.
