Description

Engage learners in the Orange Shirt Day message with this collaborative Every Child Matters poster.  Be part of a cross-Canada collaborative art project by submitting pictures of your completed poster here.

We can’t wait to see all the unique designs proclaiming the message that Every Child Matters!

HOW IT WORKS

1. Print:

  • This package includes pages with cut lines to ensure your printer doesn't cut off the edges and to help you line up the poster when you put it together.
  • Includes 16 sections. If you have more than 16 students, simply cut the pages in half or have students work in pairs.
  • For easy assembly, label the back of each page before handing it out to students.
  • The finished poster is about 42in x by 42in. To create a smaller poster, print two pages per sheet.

2. Colour:

  • There are so many ways this project can be completed and the end result will be so unique for every class.
  • Feel free to use crayons, markers, paint, pastel, anything!
  • Give students parameters for the types of designs or patterns they can put on the shirt or just let their creativity reign free.
  • Just be sure that they are mostly using shades of orange to colour the shirt.

3. Assemble:

  • When students are done colouring, have them cut out their images. Some pages will be cut along the cut lines and others will be cut along the edge of the image.
  • Lay out all the pieces to ensure they are lined up and in the correct location.
  • You can carefully flip the pages over and tape them together at the seams, glue them to a piece of poster paper, or staple them to a bulletin board.

4. Share & Enter To Win:

  • We would absolutely love it if you would submit a picture of your finished poster so that we can create a collaborative gallery of collaborative posters from all across Canada!
  • Submit your pictures here and tag us (@joyfullearningacademy) in your pictures on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Entries received by October 8th, will be entered into a draw to win an Indigenous Voices prize pack for your class. Submit your completed poster here. Submissions received after this date will continue to be added to the photo gallery.
