Description

This free set of handouts will get you started with Open & Closed syllables and word mapping.

The first page is a handout that will allow students to practice their open and closed syllable identification. The following pages are words to map together or independently that follow the vccv and vcv syllable division rules. Plenty of room is given on each page to allow for learners to map the words.

Don't forget to swoop under blends and digraphs! :)

This works perfectly for my 2nd graders as they are beginning to syllable map. I love the included list of words. I have used the list with my 3rd & 4th graders (ELLs).
