Description

Do you need a fun way for students to practice adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials with minimal prep? The Operations with Polynomials Scavenger Hunt Game gets students up and moving around while practicing math. In this game, students use the answer to one problem to find another problem hanging around the classroom. Students will complete a total of 16 problems to create a list of mathematicians. You can even extend this activity by having students research one of the mathematicians in the scavenger hunt. This product is self-checking and allows a teacher to work one-on-one with students while the rest of the class is engaged in the scavenger hunt. My students love seeing scavenger hunts on the agenda. This product comes with the student worksheet, scavenger hunt problems, instructions, and teacher’s key. You can find a free video showing how I introduce a scavenger hunt to my students. Feel free to use this video in your classroom or use it to prepare your lesson.


The problems included in this scavenger hunt require students to:

    •Add polynomials
    •Subtract polynomials
    •Multiply a monomial and a trinomial
    •Multiply two binomials
    •Square a binomial
    •Multiply a binomial and a trinomial
    •Multiply two trinomials

LOVED this! My students tend to be on the lazier side and try to sit at their desks and simply look around to find their next problem, never getting up or moving about to do these type of scavenger hunt activities. The design of these "posters" was absolutely perfect and made students get up and move!! I also loved all the mathematicians on the flaps, which led to some fun conversations as well!
