Description
This set of notes includes 11 examples of simplifying expressions using the order of operations. The examples have been thoughtfully chosen to generate discussions about misconceptions and common mistakes, and the notes themselves have been designed to fit perfectly in an interactive notebook. This set of notes is the perfect review for students who have already learned the order of operations before but still need more practice and experience. It would be perfect for Algebra 1 or Algebra 2 level students. I use this as a review prior to teaching how to evaluate algebraic expressions.
There is also a reference sheet included that gives students "tips for success." The reference sheet is provided with four options:
- PEMDAS
- GEMDAS
- GEMS
- BEDMAS
Teaching Tip: This set of notes is likely not appropriate for an introduction to the order of operations. Please check the preview and see if the level of difficulty is right for your students.
Do your students need help with classifying real numbers? Try this classifying real numbers flowchart or this foldable!
