Description

Order of Operations Task Cards –Task cards are very versatile and a great alternative to worksheets. Students will determine which operations and/or symbols of inclusion are needed to make each number sentence true.

These task cards can be used in games, centers, as question cards for a whole class review, morning work, or even flash cards.

This resource uses SEMDAS instead of PEMDAS. The S stands for “Symbols of Inclusion” to include brackets, braces, and parenthesis.

Games
Task cards make great question cards for games. You can play games like Four Corners or Jeopardy. Another option is to use the game board and spinner provided in this resource. You can either divide students into teams to compete against one another and project the game board or provide each group with a copy of the game board and spinner.

Centers
Task cards can also be incorporated into centers where students rotate from one station to another. At this station, students can either work independently or play a game with the rest of their group

I love to give my students lots of practice in order of operations, and they enjoyed the different twist provided by these cards. It was nice to have the variety to mix things up.
