Unit 1 Place Value: Topic 1 Place Value

This resource includes:

  • Anchor Charts
  • Vocabulary Slides, activities, and cards
  • Diagnostic Test
  • 13 Lessons
  • 13 Practice Sheets
  • Lesson objectives and Standards

This resource is a part of a differentiated math curriculum for grades K-6. The year is broken up into 7 Units:

  1. Place Value
  2. Addition/Subtraction
  3. Multiplication/Division
  4. Algebraic Thinking
  5. Parts of a whole (Fractions and Decimals)
  6. Measurement
  7. Geometry

Each topic is broken up into many more units (this is the first topic in the first unit). These units should be taught over a span of 4 or 5 weeks.

How It Works:

The curriculum lays out each concept in the progression of how it is taught by concept, not by grade level. It is made with the intention of filling gaps. Each lesson has an objective and a note as to what grade and standard is being covered.  There is also a calendar guide to help each grade level teacher know how much time to spend on each topic within a unit.

Each unit comes with a diagnostic test to be given at the beginning of the unit. This test will help the educator know which lessons to teach and which topics to focus on within the unit. That way you know what skills your students are missing from previous grades and what they will need to know in future grades. This may be helpful if:

  • You teach homeschool and have kids in different grades
  • You have a mixed class with multiple grade levels
  • You have one grade level, but the students have learning gaps
  • You have advanced students who are ready for the material for the next grade AND you have students who are needing gaps fill from past material
  • It is a math unit that comes ready to be DIFFERENTIATED to fit the needs of EACH little learner you are teaching!

Buy Each topic in the unit bundle and you will also get:

  • Guide Line Teacher Calendar
  • Spiral Reviews (at 3 different Levels)
  • Skills Checklist by grade (not only by topic)
  • End of Unit Grade Level Tests

Or Buy the Math Mega Bundle (all units) and get all the unit extras, PLUS math facts for every grade for the whole year! Including:

  • Counting/Cardinality Practice
  • Addition/Subtraction Practice
  • Multiplication/Division Practice

Great way to introduce place value and a great source for anchor charts. I printed them and put them in a binder for the students.

I love the clean look of these activities and anchor charts. A lot of times, I think cutesy decorations can be distracting on math worksheets. These are clean, easy to see, and so useful! Thanks for sharing!

Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones and some further ones, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each composition or decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 18 = 10 + 8); understand that these numbers are composed of ten ones and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
