Description
This lab can be used as an introduction to the scientific method or as a supplement to a forces and motion unit.
This usually takes about 3 days to complete and students investigate the effect of a variable (from 3 to choose from) on the distance that a paper airplane flies.
Students work in groups of 3 or 4 to complete this activity.
I have completed this version of the lab with 4th and 5th graders but this lab can also be adapted to 6th through 8th grades as well. That version will be available soon.
The students will need access to copy paper and a place to throw their planes. They will also need How an Airplane Flies reading for the research portion. This can be found for free on my TPT site!
A checklist for grading is at the end of the lab report.
Please note that the preview is the lab report edited quite a bit. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me!
