Description

Do your students love mazes? Mine sure do! We have built many versions and this Quick Challenge Plate Maze was new and intriguing format! Your students will enjoy creating this maze design and you will love the easy prep and hands-on problem solving.

What is the challenge?

  • Students use the materials to design and test a maze.
  • The maze is small! We use a paper plate as the base of the maze.

What is your prep?

Materials needed for this easy-prep STEM Challenge include heavyweight paper plates, straws (pieces work great), copy paper or scrap paper, and clear tape.

The package specifically contains:

  • Cover sheet
  • Teacher Background
  • 4 pages of Teacher Directions
  • Set of Criteria cards for students (in 2 versions)
  • Lab Sheet with answer samples
  • 3 pages of photos
  • Scoring rubric
  • Terms of Use
  • All forms are provided in an editable format!

This was a perfect activity to incorporate into our STEM day before spring break. I hosted grades 6th-8th and this is geared more towards the younger students. I had to do some modifications for the older ones.
