Description
I looked for resources to guide my students to a conceptual understanding of part-part-whole but could only find mats and practice sheets. I needed something more and perhaps you do too!
This is a clean and simple 50 page document that introduces the concept of "whole" and "part." It provides many different ways to practice the concepts, including hands-on sorting, matching, comparing, counting, with Social Studies and Language Arts connections. The goal is to compose and decompose parts and wholes. It uses mostly black and white clip art to minimize printing in color.
Here is what you get:

I used this with my Grade Two Intervention Math Group. Reading and Writing is minimal throughout the unit, as my lower-leveled Math group generally tends to also be my lower-leveled Reading group. For this reason, it may be especially useful to students with language difficulties. It will be useful to any teacher wanting to introduce the part-part-whole concept to a group of students who have not previously learned about it. I am going to suggest PreK- 2. Check out the preview for more information. I hope this is helpful to you! Kindly leave feedback after using it and let me know how it went for you and your students.

My students love this resource! Such a great way to learn and practice these skills!
Great resource! I used this in a first-grade classroom.
Great resource to use to reintroduce and practice this important basic strategy. I've added this along with your other resources to my math center rotation to develop understanding.
Thank you.
Perfect activity for my Grade 1 Class :)
Very helpful resource!
This was a great help for me when introducing part part whole to my little learners. We completed some of these activities together on the SMART board. I also recommend using the Part Part Whole Fingers worksheets as a next step.
I used the resource more of an extra practice with students in Kinder as I teach Prek students. However, this resource was also used with a handful of PreK students towards the end of the school.
