Description
Students start by using pattern blocks to create and describe symmetrical shapes. This leads naturally to the study of reflections including creating reflective images in horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines, and describing how images are formed.
Rotation and Reflection are treated in a similar fashion before students are introduced to combinations of transformations. This is where they get to use two or more transformations to create images or to describe transformations that created given images.
Additional support is provided through the Teacher Notes and Answers.
The resource includes Extra Practice for students to make the all-important transition from the concrete (hands on) to pictorial and symbolic representations.
This is Chapter 5 of five chapters covering Measurement, Fractions, Geometry, Patterns, and Transformations.
All the Pattern Block chapters as well as our other resources are available in my store at www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Math-By-Jim-At-Root-7.
Pattern Blocks are not included but a free Pattern Blocks template can be downloaded in our Free Section.

Thank you!
thank you
My students enjoyed this! Thanks!
Thanks
I was looking for something that bridged the gap between fractions and geometric/spatial reasoning. Thank you for this resource to use with pattern blocks.
This really helped my students understand translations better. Thank you
