This packet contains three sets of cards (birds, flowers & ladybugs) which may be used for either write-the-room or as task cards at a learning center. Each set includes the patterns AB, AABB, AAB, ABB and ABC in all possible combinations using three colors.

Select any combination of six cards you wish to have your students practice. Laminate, cut out and post at various locations around the room for a write-the-room activity. You will also need to place crayons (to match the colors in the patterns) near each location for student use. Or, as an alternative, the children may simply carry the colors they will need with them. Select a recording sheet for your students to complete, and attach to a clipboard for each child. (For mini-clipboards, fold the full-size pages in half and have your students complete one side at a time.) The children then search for the patterns and record. To use as task cards, place the cards and crayons into containers at a learning center.

Recording sheet options include: (1) record what comes next, (2) copy the pattern & record what comes next, and (3) copy the pattern, record what comes next & write the pattern. Have fun with this activity.
