Description

Need some engaging practice for percentages? Students learn about plastic pollution in the oceans which is a real world issue today, while also practicing working through problems that involve percents!

The information sheet that students use to answer questions incorporates real data about plastic in our ocean from research completed in 2018. I've found students this age are very interested in helping the environment and learning about real world issues.

Not a lesson on percentages, instead, great zero prep activity for in class practice, homework, or as an assessment.

Although the pictures are colored, the document does not need to be printed in color to be effective.

Includes:

teacher instructions

answer key

informational sheet using real plastic pollution data

4 word porblem questions
