Description

Great for distance learning! This resource has been fully updated in 2021 to include Google Slides versions of all the student sheets!

Celebrate Valentine's Day with poetry! This Poetry Break! features three poems - two by Christina Rossetti and one by Robert Frost. All deal with the theme of love in an approachable way that is totally appropriate for 3rd - 6th graders. Each poem has suggestions for teaching and analysis, helping you put together a lesson on the fly - just print and teach or assign digitally! Also, really great for a sub! Teaching all three poems in this mini-unit will help you cover essential poetry concepts like rhyme scheme, alliteration, irony and metaphor. Perfect for Valentine's Day, or any day!

You get:

1. Student copies of three poems (Wind and Window Flower by Robert Frost, A Birthday and A Ring Upon Her Finger, both by Christina Rossetti)

2. Suggestions for teaching, including ideas about analysis of the poems

3. Student sheets with comprehension questions and practice for poetic devices like metaphor and irony

4. A bonus Compare and Contrast Student sheet for comparing two poems, or three!

5. A Poetry Glossary
