Positive Behavior Management Strategies and Tools

Effective behavior management is essential to every classroom—but it’s often one of the biggest challenges. This resource is designed to help you promote and maintain a positive, respectful, and cooperative classroom environment using engaging and consistent strategies all year long.

What’s Included:

  • Anchor Poster: Featuring the "BIG WORDS"—Cooperate, Responsible, Respectful—to guide classroom expectations.
  • Student Activities: Help students understand what each behavior looks like and why it matters in building a healthy classroom community.
  • "I Caught You" Positive Behavior Notes: A variety of check-and-send home notes to celebrate students who are modeling positive behaviors. No need to handwrite—just check the boxes! Optional space is included on the back for personalized messages.

Examples:

I Caught You Being Cooperative:
☐ You were sharing
☐ You were taking turns
☐ You were doing your part
☐ You let everyone join in
☐ You encouraged someone

I Had a Great Day!
☐ I listened carefully
☐ I followed directions
☐ I worked quietly
☐ I did my best work
☐ I was kind and helpful
☐ I cooperated with my peers

Class Incentive Ideas:
Encourage whole-class positive behavior with fun reward themes like:
Popcorn Day, Donut Day, Bubble Day, Hot Chocolate Day, Pirate Day, Camp Day, Pajama Day, or a class-chosen celebration. Seasonal themes include apples, leaves, snowmen, turkeys, sunshine, and more!

Each theme includes:

  • A class poster to laminate and track daily progress
  • Stickers for motivation
  • Coordinating positive behavior notes to send home

Bonus!
Includes classroom behavior cards for modeling and reinforcing expectations throughout the day.

Before long, your students will be eager to earn their positive notes and take pride in demonstrating good choices!
