Description

Help your 7th grade students practice solving two step equations with these notes for your interactive notebook. These notes are a great way to practice solving basic two step equations, such as -2x-6=5. These notes will help students with the following standard:

✅Solve word problems leading to equations of the form px + q = r and p(x + q) = r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers. Solve equations of these forms fluently. Compare an algebraic solution to an arithmetic solution, identifying the sequence of the operations used in each approach.

These notes are simple and easy to glue in a composition notebook. Print double sided, then students will fold in half and glue down the back of the page.

Here are some different ways that you can use this resource:
✅Whole class discussion/guided notes.
✅In class practice where students work together in small groups.

Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Solve word problems leading to equations of the form 𝘱𝘹 + 𝘲 = 𝘳 and 𝘱(𝘹 + 𝘲) = 𝘳, where 𝘱, 𝘲, and 𝘳 are specific rational numbers. Solve equations of these forms fluently. Compare an algebraic solution to an arithmetic solution, identifying the sequence of the operations used in each approach. For example, the perimeter of a rectangle is 54 cm. Its length is 6 cm.
