Description
What is this product?
This product is a short video review and four pages of practice activities for students to apply concepts of dominant and recessive traits. These fun activities and scenarios range from basic recall to application and critical thinking! This is a perfect assignment for distance learning, unit homework, or an at-your-own-pace flipped classroom setup.
NOTE: This assignment assumes that students have completed a traits inventory at some point prior to this assignment. I offer the corresponding inventory that pairs with this assignment for just 50 cents in my store, but you can totally use any traits inventory you like! Just make sure that you: a) change the items in the inventory table & the dominant/ recessive table to match the inventory you use, and b) don't ask students to consider dominant vs. recessive on the traits inventory until this lesson!
This lesson can be easily completed in about 20-30 minutes. Struggling learners might need some assistance with the heavier critical thinking problems, but since this is editable you can always make those questions optional! This is one of my personal favorites of the genetics unit so far, and I hope you and your students enjoy!
This lesson works well early in a genetics unit, and slots in with my other genetics digital lessons:
- Chromosomes & Karyotypes - A Digital Learning & Exploration Activity
- Genes, Transcription, and Translation: A Digital Interactive Overview
- Mendel, Pea Plants, & Inheritance
- Intro to Traits
- Traits Inventory
