This is a full collection of my ExamView Question Banks for Pre-Algebra Chapter 1. It is modeled on the sequence and structure from McDougal Littell Pre-Algebra but reflects the content of any Pre-Algebra text that I have seen. All question banks were created in ExamView 7.50.1051. All problems are dynamically generated.
I have spent years writing my own question banks to avoid the pitfalls of the ridiculousness created by using the banks that are included with textbooks. -3 + 7 is not the same as -5 - 8, so why do two versions of a quiz have that for problem #4? The examples of these disparities are too long to list here. Suffice it to say, the fundamental issue that I aim to address with my question banks is to assure consistency and parallel structure across multiple versions of a quiz, while providing the full range of problems to assess discrete skills.
This collection includes:
Expressions and Variables
: simple expressions to evaluate after replacing a variable, translating verbal expressions into algebraic expressions
: writing powers as repeated multiplication and the reverse, evaluating powers, finding area and volume of squares and cubes
Order of Operations
: simple to intermediate expressions to evaluate, designed to diagnose common misconceptions
Comparing and Ordering Integers
: compare negative and positive integers, opposites and absolute value
Adding and Subtracting Integers
: a short question bank that has each possibility, easily used to copy and paste for a series of similar problems as you hone in on specific skill assessment
Multiplying and Dividing Integers
: evaluating simple expressions to properly determine negative or positive results
: plotting points and writing ordered pairs for points
If you are learning how to create your own dynamic questions, these question banks could be very useful. I encourage you to edit and modify them as needed. It is quite easy to change many of the questions by simply modifying the range of numbers used for the random values.
