Description

Are you looking for challenging math performance tasks that keep your students engaged, apply the math you have taught, and meet the standards of the Common Core or other rigorous math standards? Are you too busy to do this on your own? I've got your back!

Based on a "real life" math blog post, this freebie gives you the photographs of the store at an apple orchard and the problem solving task of spending $20! There is a table to fill in with purchases and a page of challenge problems as well. Whether used in conjunction with other fall activities, as a simple and easy sub plan, or just for fun--this freebie asks students to solve a problem with multiple solutions!

This was a good first example of a Math Performance Task to prepare students for the CAASPP (California state testing). I had the students work in pairs with a higher/lower combination. Most students were able to finish the task easily, in a couple of different ways.
