Description
The Community Service Awareness Project was designed to teach children about how others have made differences either in the lives of others or within the community, and how they can as well.
The lesson begins with a video (link) to an important and valuable charity in Africa. This opens the discussion about charities, their meaning and purpose.
Students will learn about various charities founded by children and will write about what it means to offer "a helping hand."
The culminating piece to this project is a PowerPoint activity in which the children can present to the class.
This lesson can be adapted to include content standards, etc.
