I have 10 years as a general education teacher and have taught every grade level under 3rd (3rd being my favorite!). I also have taught aspiring teachers at the college level :).
This is a graphic organizer that I use with my third graders to help them better understand and apply the long division formula. Every year I have run into the same problem: my students are unable to conceptualize long division and have a lot of difficulty learning the steps.
This graphic organizer has been PHENOMENAL for my students! Not only do they learn the process, they memorize the format and after practice- can independently solve long division without the use of a graphic organizer.
The Fifty States Project was designed for use in a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade classroom. It has been used as a weekly folder activity to allow students to research and document each state's capital, location, interesting facts, as well as flag.
**Included in the zip file are state research sheets for all 50 states.
The Community Service Awareness Project was designed to teach children about how others have made differences either in the lives of others or within the community, and how they can as well.
The lesson begins with a video (link) to an important and valuable charity in Africa. This opens the discussion about charities, their meaning and purpose.
Students will learn about various charities founded by children and will write about what it means to offer "a helping hand."
The culminating piece t
