Description

Deepen your students problem solving skills in an engaging and hands on way with this fun pumpkin themed story problem activity. Not only does this resource support children's understanding and practice of solving word problems, but it also incorporates writing practice. It will make a great addition to your math workshop and can easily be added to a math center or rotation. My students have found the Spin a Math Story activity highly motivating. They enjoy using the spinner to create and write their own word problems. They also look forward to solving each other's problems!

This resource includes:

  • Student friendly directions
  • Common math story problem words that serve as a tool for students while they write their own story problems
  • 2 story problem spinners, one that offers practice with larger numbers, the other with smaller numbers
  • Story problem template page for students to use as they write their story problem for a peer to solve
