Description

Qualitative and quantitative data can be so hard for students to differentiate between. This activity gives your middle school students visual cues, information, and teaches them to use a triple beam balance to find mass. The prefect combination of instruction and hands on learning will ensure your students remember the difference between qualitative and quantitative data! This is great to add to interactive notebooks!

You will need to have at least a few triple beam balances for students to use.

I used this with two different groups of middle school students last week - quick and easy to implement! Since I teach special education students, we used the different components as stations - notes, triple beam balance practice, and practice gathering data through a survey (using one of your free resources).
