Description

This resource, for Algebra 2 through Pre-Calculus, is a task card activity covering domain of more complicated functions including ones with radicals in both the numerator and denominator. The 6 cards are purposefully designed to require students to practice key concepts including understanding when to use a bracket versus a parentheses in interval notation and how the numerator can equal zero but the denominator cannot equal zero. The solution key is included in this 5 page resource.

This challenging card sort typically takes my students about 30 minutes to complete and I always enjoy the discussions they end up having as a result of this activity!

  • 6 Domain Answers in Interval Notation
  • Answer Key: Fully worked color coded solutions for all problems included

Understand that a function from one set (called the domain) to another set (called the range) assigns to each element of the domain exactly one element of the range. If 𝘧 is a function and 𝘹 is an element of its domain, then 𝘧(𝘹) denotes the output of 𝘧 corresponding to the input 𝘹. The graph of 𝘧 is the graph of the equation 𝘺 = 𝘧(𝘹).
Use function notation, evaluate functions for inputs in their domains, and interpret statements that use function notation in terms of a context.
