Description
A fun way for your students to learn the differences between rational and irrational numbers. 24 different examples are cut and pasted onto construction paper to create a poster. Students will also write the definitions of "rational numbers" and " irrational numbers" and will give a written justification on two of the examples. Great for a group activity, or a fun way of giving a quiz! Can easily be modified for an IMN by shrinking the examples and having students glue or tape them into their interactive notebook. Enjoy!

Great for a standard cut and paste sorting activity.
This was a fun activity. My principal even enjoyed having the kids explain what they were creating. We picked the best poster from each class and they authors won candy and got to hang their poster on the wall of fame.

Know that numbers that are not rational are called irrational. Understand informally that every number has a decimal expansion; for rational numbers show that the decimal expansion repeats eventually, and convert a decimal expansion which repeats eventually into a rational number.
