This reading data sheet is based off of research conducted by Down syndrome Education International regarding the instructional methods for students with Down syndrome. I believe this instructional method would benefit many visual learners and students who learn best through whole word reading approaches. Use this with any emergent reader (repetitive sentences with a noun, verb, or adjective change as shown in the Example form). I used this with students in my elementary special education classroom who had various disability diagnoses, as well as limited verbal communication skills.
