These Reading Goals are excellent to display anywhere in your classroom for students to set goals to focus on during their reading activities. These help students monitor their reading and work towards a particular goal.

There are three main categories with sub categories with an explanation of each.

Fluency - rate, accuracy, expression, punctuation

Decoding - Images, Skip, Punctuation, Chunking and "Beanie Baby Strategies" such as Eagle Eye, Stretchy Snake, Flippy the Dolphin, etc.

Comprehension - Main Idea, Self Monitoring, Questioning, Higher Order Thinking, Visualise, Author's Purpose, Activating Prior Knowledge, Non-Fiction Summary, Fiction Summary, Literal, Building Vocabulary, Prediction, Skim and Scan, Reorganisation, Inference and Synthesise
