Description

This restaurant menu math project is designed for 4th - 6th grade students to practice decimal operations, including adding/multiplying decimals and using decimal fractions and decimals to calculate sales tax.

Students design a menu with prices for a restaurant they have created and order from each other’s menus to calculate the total for their customer. Fun guest checks are included to make the experience more real for students and the anchor charts will help guide them through the process of ordering and calculating sales tax.

Check out the PREVIEW to take a closer look!

What's included:

  • Teacher directions with suggested timeline
  • Student directions
  • Menu planning sheets
  • Two sales tax anchor charts (one using fractions and one using decimals)
  • Two sales tax practice sheets with answer keys
  • Two examples of completed guest checks
  • Blank guest check
  • Pictures of project samples
  • EDITABLE PowerPoint of student directions and menu planning sheets

This is a great project to do as an end-of-the-year project or after teaching decimals to reinforce concepts while having fun at the same time. From start to finish, it should take approximately five days.
