Description

These are the perfect guided notes for teaching rotations on the coordinate plane. Students will rotate images clockwise and counter-clockwise about the origin. They will discover the rules for rotating images on a graph and be able to determine the quadrant an image will be in after it is rotated. With easy to follow graphs and tables, this 8th grade math lesson has it all!

Let's be honest, rotations are hard! You start with translations and reflections, everything is going well then rotations come in making everything difficult. Some kids can't visualize it and some kids have trouble remembering the rules. These guided notes will help with both of those problems!

This product includes:

  • 2 pages of guided notes
  • 2 identical pages of answer keys

Verify experimentally the properties of rotations, reflections, and translations:
Understand that a two-dimensional figure is congruent to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, and translations; given two congruent figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the congruence between them.
Describe the effect of dilations, translations, rotations, and reflections on two-dimensional figures using coordinates.
