Reflections Activity - Transformations Math Mystery Clue Game

This fun mystery activity will make reflections in the coordinate plane exciting for your students. Based off the popular board game Clue, students will be detectives and will have to know reflections in order to find their missing math teacher! Students will reflect points over the x and y axis, y=x, y=-x, vertical and horizontal lines (such as y = 1 and x = -3) during this activity. If they are able to reflect the point given and find a suspect, "weapon", or location, they will be able to mark

Geometric Math Transformations Rules Cheat Sheet

Rules, Rules, Rules! It can be so hard to remember all the rules for transformations. This cheat sheet can help with that! This transformations rules cheat sheet has two options- one where students can fill in the rules and one that is print and go with all the rules typed out for students. Rules are typed in the algebraic format and cover translations, rotations, reflections, and dilations. What I loved about this resource is how versatile it is. Maybe you have a class that take a while to copy

Reflections Guided Notes Over X and Y Axis

These guided notes are perfect for the first day of teaching reflections. On this first day, students will focus on reflecting images over the x and y axis. The guided notes include three examples with tables and graphs to make it super easy for students to practice reflections. Students will also describe the transformations and write the rules during this lesson. Want more reflections practice? Well visit my store to find a second day of guided notes where students will work on reflecting ove

Reflections Guided Notes over y=x and y=-x

Need to step up your game with reflections and challenge your students? Well then you are in the right place! These notes focus on more difficult reflections such as reflecting over vertical and horizontal lines ( such as y=3 or x=3) and the lines y = x and y = -x. On this first day, students will focus on reflecting images over the x and y axis. The guided notes include four examples with easy to follow tables and graphs. Students will also write the rules for the transformations during this l

Math Transformations Dilations Notes with Answer Key

These guided notes make dilations a breeze for your 8th grade math students! These notes include 2 pages of guided notes with an answer key. Students have probably been working on other transformations but in this lesson they will learn about scale factor and compare and contrast to find what kind of scale factors cause a reduction or enlargement. Students will also have easy to read graphs that they will perform dilations on and then label their points on a table. Also, they will learn how to w

Math Transformations Rotations Notes with Answer Key

These are the perfect guided notes for teaching rotations on the coordinate plane. Students will rotate images clockwise and counter-clockwise about the origin. They will discover the rules for rotating images on a graph and be able to determine the quadrant an image will be in after it is rotated. With easy to follow graphs and tables, this 8th grade math lesson has it all! Let's be honest, rotations are hard! You start with translations and reflections, everything is going well then rotations

All Geometric Math Transformations Review Partner Activity

What teacher doesn't need a quick and easy partner review activity? This transformations review is a perfect way to review translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. Partner A/B is great for students because they have different problems but the same answers. So students will have to work on their own paper but then they can check with their partner. Also, it's easy to differentiate with one worksheet being slightly more difficult than the other. I love this activity because it leads t

About the store

Experience

I have taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade math in Indiana and Kentucky. I am now an interventionist where I work with multiple grade levels and multiple subjects!

Teaching style

I love a very structured classroom with engaging lessons. My students start with easy to follow guided notes which leads them in to an activity to help practice the concepts they have learned. Short daily homework assignments are also something I think is very important in a math classroom.

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a middle level education degree in math and science.

Additional biographical information

I'm a full time math teacher turned part time interventionist. Now I get to do all the things I love. I get to spend time with my baby girl and my husband, work with students one-on-one and build strong relationships, and turn my amazing resources I once used in to structured lessons that many teachers can implement in their own classrooms!
