Description
If there is one thing I know about teaching middle school math, it's that finding resources that include good graphs that are easy to read is not an easy task! If you are looking for an activity to practice dilations that also has great graphs this resource is for you! This resource is aligned to the common core standards and is great for practicing finding scale factors of figures dilated on the coordinate plan.
Split your class up in to pairs or small groups, cut out the cards, and match the graphs and tables to their corresponding scale factor. Your students will love working together to find the scale factor while also adding a little competition to it by seeing who can remember where the matches are! Another option for the cards would be to glue them in to an interactive notebook.
Don't have time to complete the activity in class? No problem. Just print out the worksheet version to give students a little extra practice finding scale factor. The worksheet also gets harder as it goes so it would be great to differentiate and assign certain rows based on student readiness. Also, you can quickly check answers with the included answer key! The worksheet version would also make a great homework assignment!
This product includes:
1 instruction page for teacher setup and student instructions
24 matching cards- 12 cards with table/graph and 12 cards with scale factors
1 worksheet version of the same graphs and tables
1 answer key for the worksheet version
You may also like:
- Transformations Rule Sheet
- Dilations Guided Notes
- Rotations Guided Notes and Answer Key
- Reflections Guided Notes Day 2 y = x and y = -x
