This editable STEM Choice Board is designed to keep every student engaged, productive, and challenged. I created it to solve a common classroom challenge: many of my students with the highest needs are pulled out for service provider sessions and therapies. I needed a way to catch them up, while balancing other students being far ahead, in a meaningful, low-prep manner. As we all know, when student engagement and differentiation allows for calm and happy teachers. After over a decade of juggling different ideas, I developed Fun Fridays and a monthly choice board! This allows students who have missed class to complete this choice board at home, and not feel behind. It also allows me to meet with students who are deeply behind, and "excuse" this assignment. All while still rewarding students who are engaged, on task, and advanced.

Beyond Fun Fridays, this resource gives students voice and choice in their learning while supporting social-emotional learning, executive functioning, and time management skills. It’s perfect for Fun Fridays, early finisher activities, enrichment and extension tasks, or independent learning time.

The download includes an editable Choice Board template, with student-friendly directions, nine activities with links and detailed directions embedded, and a row for reflection to keep students accountable and make grading simple. The reflection can also done in a notebook or other classroom resource, making it easy to adapt for any subject area—STEM, ELA, math, or social studies.
