Description
This science reader is a resource for providing students with a basic knowledge of spiders. The text may be somewhat difficult for beginning readers, but it is simple enough that students should be able to partner read or independently read on subsequent readings. The content in this reader allows for discussion as students read/follow along with the teacher.
*Note: The pictures are a cartoon version in which the spider has the legs coming off of the abdomen instead of the head/chest. I just tell my students this and then show them a realistic picture.
Includes
- 8 page reader (two copies per page)
- Simple discussion ideas
Easel Resouce
There is an Easel resource with this purchase. It includes a colored version of the reader. There is also a self-checking True or False page in which students read a statement and then click on the correct answer.
Student Engagement
These readers work well with a small group. Students are engaged as they read with the group and then with a partner/independently. Having a group discussion about what students have learned helps to keep them engaged. They also enjoy coloring the books, taking them home, and reading them to family members.
